The Sacred Band is an untrainable infantry unit in Chronicles: Alexander the Great. It is available in the Scenario Editor and present in the Alexander the Great campaign.

Ability

• It gains 1 hit point per second regeneration for every other Sacred Band within a 4-tile aura radius.
• It also gains +1 pierce armor when around six other Sacred Bands, up to a cap of +3.

Campaign appearances

Alexander the Great

• The Battle of Chaeronea: Sacred Bands are part of the Theban army. Once their armory is looted, their equipment can be scavenged by Alexander for later use or sent back to Thebes.
• Woe unto Thebes: The Theban Heavy Hoplites are renamed Sacred Bands. They mount attacks on the Cadmeia in an attempt to recapture it and defend Thebes against Alexander's army.

Trivia

• The Sacred Band is equipped with a Chalcidian helmet resembling an example from the British Museum, a muscle cuirass with archaic period mitre groin protector and right arm armor and a Boeotian shield with the club of Heracles, a symbol of Thebes.
