Trivia[]
- The regular Janissary was originally planned to have the design used by the Royal variant, the reason for the change was "Because testers and Ensemble employees would comment that the Janissary looked like a "Ku Klux Klan" member".
- Despite not featuring as a unit until The Forgotten, Royal Janissaries are shown stationed besides a Mosque in one of the screenshots that play at the start of the Marching and Fighting scenario in the William Wallace Learning Campaign in The Age of Kings.
- Royal Janissaries are not affected by the Turkish additional hit point bonus, but benefit from other bonuses such as the Spanish faster Rate of Fire and the Portuguese Arquebus.
- In the The Age of Kings and The Conquerors manuals, the Turks' unique unit is shown with the Royal Janissary instead of Janissary icon.
- The unit's sprite is used as the icon for the Historical Battle scenario Bapheus. Despite this, they don't make an appearance in the scenario.
