Strategy[]
As with most revolutionary nations in the Definitive Edition, picking Romania can be a finishing move, as each Settler becomes a Dorobant, and each Outpost or Blockhouse spawns a Rosior Dragoon. This revolution is pretty similar to Hungary, as it also makes every shipment spawn an Outpost Wagon, while each shipment increases the build limit of Outposts and Blockhouses, but there are subtle differences that may make the player prefer to pick Romania over Hungary. The most notable one is that Romania focuses much more on cavalry than on infantry, and particularly ranged cavalry. Also, the revolutionary unit Romania offers, the Dorobant, has more resilience, due to their hit points, rather having more range, unlike the Hungarian Grenzer (which has 10% less hit points than a regular revolutionary). Romania and Hungary share most of their shipments, but while Hungary offers shipments such as Hungarian Grenadiers and Magyar Hussars, Romania instead offers shipments such as Wallachian Horse Archers, Rosior Dragoons, and Infinite 2 Horse Artillery.
Like Hungary, most of the basic strategy with Romania revolves around placing Outposts (for Ottomans) or Blockhouses (for Russians). Every shipment sends an additional Outpost Wagon and increases the build limit by 1. This feature makes Romania a highly valuable option if the player previously focused on buildings and defenses. Most of the shipments Romania offers make each Outpost or Blockhouse spawn a variety of military units. In the case of the Hadjuks, 12 Crabats, and 10 Pandours shipments, these shipments also make their respective units available at Outposts, Blockhouses, Forts, Barracks, Taverns, and Galleons. The Military Frontier shipment, which is infinite, gives Dorobants the ability to build Outposts/Blockhouses. The Romanian army may snowball with enough shipments and Outposts/Blockhouses placed, giving the player more map control with each shipment sent and better defense in case the all-in attack is stopped.
This revolution is much more synergic with the Russians than with Ottomans, as the Russians get Blockhouses instead of Outposts and have several shipments that increase the usefulness of this building.
Recommended shipments[]
- For Russians and Ottomans
- Cavalry Combat: It benefits Rosior Dragoons, Wallachian Horse Archers, and Crabats.
- Improved Buildings: Its effect applies to Outposts and Blockhouses.
- Frontier Defenses: It doesn't hurt to ship some Outpost or Blockhouses previous to revolting. For the Ottomans, this shipment increases the hit points of Outposts and is infinite. For the Russians, this shipment send two Blockhouse Wagons, but is not infinite.
- Advanced Arsenal: The technologies provided help all Romanian units.
- Advanced Frontier Defenses: The Ottomans get 4 Outpost Wagons, Russians get 3 Blockhouse Wagons.
- Castramentation: Ships 1 Fort Wagon, +1 Fort limit, and allows Explorers to built Forts. Since the focus of this revolution is on defense, having Forts can be a good idea, especially considering Romania also has the infinite Fort shipment, and rebuilding lost Forts may be needed.
- Factory shipments: Like most revolutions, economy is momentarily stopped until Citizenship is sent, so having some trickles of resources is very helpful.
- Riding School: Benefits Crabats and Wallachian Horse Archers.
- Stonemasons: Settlers build buildings 65% faster. This can be handy after the Citizenship card has been sent, if the player needs to rebuilt Outposts or Blockhouses.
- For Russians
- Distributivism: Trickles of resources are helpful, as the economy is interrupted by a revolution like Romania.
- Fencing School: It benefits all the infantry Romania provides.
- Heavy Fortifications: Grants all defensive building upgrades for free.
- Strelet Horde: Makes all Blockhouses (built and new) spam 5 Streltsy. Since its effect applies to new Blockhouses and not just the already placed ones, it can greatly help the Romanian revolution.
- Ransack: Its effect benefits all infantry Romania offers.
- TEAM Kamchatka Expeditions: It benefits Crabats, Rosior Dragoons, and Wallachian Horse Archers.
- TEAM House of Romanov: Increases HP of various military buildings, including Blockhouses.
- Blockhouse Cannon: Enables Falconets and Mortars at Blockhouses.
- Dueling School: It benefits all the infantry of Romania.
- National Redoubt: Musketeers can build Forts, and their attack and hit points increase by 10%. While it doesn't increase Fort limit, the fact that Musketeers have no build limit may make this preferable to Castramentation.
- For Ottomans
- Extensive Fortifications: Increases the build limit of Outposts while increasing their hit points.
- Capitalism: Trickles of resources are helpful as economy is interrupted by a revolution like Romania.
- Irregulars: Its effect applies to All the cavalry Romania offers.
- Artillery Hitpoints: it gives Horse Artillery +15% hit points.
- TEAM Artillery Attack: Artillery get +15% attack, which includes the Horse Artillery.
- Palace Intrigue: Enables the New Order Infantry technology at the Mosque, which in addition to the Nizam Fusilier stuff, also gives heavy infantry a better training time and multipliers vs cavalry and shock infantry. This applies to Dorobants. Should be researched before revolting, or the player will lose this.
Recommended politicians[]

- The Philosopher Prince: Like The Naturalist, he can make up for a fast age advancement.

- The Bishop (Russians): The Covered Wagon provided helps to reach the Revolution, while also improving economy, and may help to reboom after revolting.
- The Exiled Prince: His fast aging-up bonus may help to save time and get the Revolution earlier.
Industrial Age
- The Logistician: Since this revolution focuses on defensive buildings, having a Fort beforehand synergizes.
- The Tycoon (Ottomans): The 1,000 coin allows for a Fast Revolution.

Trivia[]
- Romania's availability to the Ottomans reflects the fact that most of Romania, which includes Moldavia, Wallachia, and Transylvania, were under the control of the Ottoman Empire until the 18th century.
- Romania's availability to the Russians refers to the Russian occupation of Romania in the mid-18th century and Russian support of the Romanian War of Independence.
