Roller Shutter Triggers is a technology in Age of Empires IV that can be researched at the Siege Workshop starting in the Imperial Age. Once researched, it increases the attack speed of Springalds by 25% (which means that the attack duration is decreased by 20%, from 3.125 to 2.5 seconds). Additionally it grants an additional +10% ranged resistance*.
Civilization bonuses[]
Abbasid Dynasty: Research speeds are +15%/+20% faster while Golden Age tiers 2/3 are active- Ayyubids: Research speeds are 25% faster while Golden Age tier 2 is active
- Byzantines: Research speeds are 30% faster per water level at buildings within the influence of a Cistern with the Dialecticus ability active.
- Chinese and Zhu Xi's Legacy: The technology researches 150% faster when the Siege Workshop is supervised by an Imperial Official. For Zhu Xi's Legacy, this can be improved to 300% faster after researching Regional Inspection.
- Delhi Sultanate: The technology is free, but takes 12x as long to research (720 seconds instead of 60 seconds). The research time can be further decreased by 50% if a Scholar is garrisoned inside the Siege Workshop at which it is researched.
- Japanese: Research speed is +150% faster when researched at a Siege Workshop with a Yorishiro garrisoned.
- Malians: Technologies take less time to research based on how much gold has been obtained through trade.
- Mongols: Can research Improved Roller Shutter Triggers for an additional 500 stone to provide an additional 10% attack speed (+35% total).
Changelog[]
- Originally, the base research time for the Delhi Sultanate was 5x default (300 seconds). With update 8324, this was increased to 15x default (900 seconds). With Season Two Update 17718, it takes 12x as long (720 seconds).
- With update 12.0.1974, instead of increasing the range of Springalds by +2, Roller Shutter Triggers now increases ranged resistance by 10% (in addition to the +25% attack speed). The Mongol Improved version no longer increases range by an additional +1, and now has no additional effect beyond the +10% attack speed.
Campaign version[]
Because the campaigns do not get rebalanced with each update, Roller Shutter Triggers maintains the same stats in each campaign that it had upon the campaign's release. Therefore, in the original four campaigns:
- It costs 75 wood, 400 gold and is researched at the Arsenal.
- It increases the damage of Springalds by 5 and their range by 7.5
- The Mongols can research the improved version for an additional 475 stone to further increase the damage by +3 and range by +2.5 (+8/+10 total)
In the The Sultans Ascend campaign:
- It increases Springald range by +2 instead of granting +10% ranged resistance.
