The Roc is an Egyptian myth unit in Age of Empires: Mythologies available to worshipers of Hathor.

Rocs are the cheapest Myth Unit available to the Egyptians after the Hyena of Set. This makes them useful for the early game as they are affordable at a time when players may not yet have a large income of resources. They also have good Sight, and can assist with exploring the map or even with raiding as they also have decent stats. If players have the Hero Thutmose under their command, they can use his Hero power to increase the Roc's otherwise low Movement to make them travel the landscape faster. In the event of a battle, Rocs are airborne and so can quickly join one by travelling over obstacles. As a cavalry type Myth Unit, it can be used to weaken the enemy's Archer type units, enabling the player's own archers (made stronger with Hathor's researches) to finish them off without the risk of a counterattack.


  • Unlike its Age of Mythology counterpart, the Roc cannot transport units but does have the capability of attacking.
