Ranged infantry in Age of Empires III refers to all unmounted military units that fight from a range and have the AbstractRangedInfantry tag in the game files.
The line of separation between archers, gunpowder units, and other projectile throwers becomes obsolete, since any of these classes can be under different and unrelated tags, such as the heavy infantry tag for example.
