The Pyramid is an unconstructable building in Age of Empires II and in Return of Rome. Used only for decoration in campaign scenarios, Pyramids have no actual use in-game. Though extremely bulky, they help the player with nothing but providing Line of Sight. Pyramids always look identical, no matter the color of the owning player.
Age of Empires[]
The Pyramid was imported from Age of Empires II to the Age of Empires mode in Return of Rome. They cannot be built in normal gameplay, and can only be found in the scenario editor (under the Building tab).
Trivia[]
- The object has id 689 with the name HPYR in the Advanced Genie Editor.
- It also has an armor class for the Leitis' charged attack, most likely as a bug, as Leiciai are not present in Return of Rome.
- The Egyptian Wonder is visibly smaller than this building.
Age of Empires II[]
The Pyramid is a decorative building which is used in one campaign scenario. They are also available in the Scenario Editor. A Pyramid features in the center of the Isthmus map.
Campaign appearances[]
- An Arabian Knight: Two Pyramids flank a Great Pyramid in the western desert.
Trivia[]
- When the Pyramid is destroyed, the rubble left behind is the original rubble from Age of Empires.
- Pyramids have a hidden construction cost of 1,000 wood, 1,000 gold, 1,000 stone (same as the Wonder) which is only relevant to repairing, as it cannot be constructed.
- In The Conquerors, the third phase on fire is bugged, with a lot of fires, icicles, and a total of 8 garrison flags. The garrison flags use the owning player's color.
