Resource trickle comparison Edit
There are quite a few means of auto-generating resources in Age of Mythology. The following list shows all the means there are to illustrate the value of the Plenty.
|Flood of the Nile||Egyptians||Food||45|
|Vaults of Erebus||Greeks||Gold||45|
|Ring of the Nibelung||all||Gold||18|
|Ship of Fingernails||all||Food||24|
|Ankh of Ra||all||Favor||2.4|
1.2 (in combat)
|Plenty Vault3||Greeks|| Wood|
- The rate can be increased by 10% by researching Horns of Consecration.
- Gardens can be tasked to generate any resource, but they only generate one at a time.
- The Plenty Vault generates all three resources simultaneously.
The Vault is indestructible but can be captured by enemy units as it is controlled by whoever has the most military units in its vicinity. Because of this, it is better to place the Vault in a well defended area in order to prevent an enemy to get the advantage of the Vault. It is useful since it does the work of several Villagers and thus frees up some population space. In addition, resources are usually running low by the Mythic Age and the Plenty Vault generates an infinite amount of resources.
Appearances on random maps Edit
The Vault has a key role on the King of the Hill and Silk Road random maps. Those also generate resources to whichever player holds onto them but the trickle is much lower (about 1 food, 1 wood, and 1 gold per second). In the former, players can capture a Vault located at the center of the map and hold onto it for 8 minutes. Doing so will secure the player automatic victory. In the latter, there are several Vaults scattered across the map that players can capture but those only generate resources.
