Pirotechnia is a technology in update 141935 of the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition that is unique to the Italians and can be researched at the Castle. Once researched, it makes the player's Hand Cannoneers deal +15% pass-through damage and increases their accuracy from 75% to 90%.
In the update, Pavise was removed, and the current Imperial Age unique technology, Silk Road, was moved to the Castle Age.

- Pirotecnìa is an Italian term originally used to describe, in a broad sense, the technique of using fire to smelt and work metals, and later, together with pirotecnica (a more common form in this sense today), to describe the technique of making fireworks.[1]
- It is probably a reference to De la pirotechnia ("On Pyrotechnics"), a 10-volume work by the Sienese chemist, mineralogist, and metallurgist Vannoccio Biringuccio (1480 - c. 1539), published posthumously in 1540.
