Pericles (Hero Pericles before Return of Rome) is an infantry unit in Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. He is available only in the Scenario Editor and the campaign mode of the game.

Pericles has the appearance of a Phalangite, but is stronger, has 60 more hit points, 4 more attack, and 1 more melee armor.

History[]

Pericles (c. 495 – 429 BC) was a Greek politician and general during the Golden Age of Athens. He was the son of Xanthippus, and was prominent and influential in Athenian politics, particularly between the Greco-Persian Wars and the Peloponnesian War, and was acclaimed by Thucydides, a contemporary historian, as "the first citizen of Athens".
