Perfusion is a technology in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors that is unique to the Goths and can be researched at the Castle once the Imperial Age is reached. Once researched, it doubles the working rate of Barracks, thus halving the train (research) time for units (technologies).

Strategy[]

With Perfusion researched, the Goths become the fastest creator of military units in the game, allowing them to create masses of Champions, Halberdiers, and Huskarls twice as fast as without it. This can be seen as doubling the number of Barracks that the player has, an especially important factor when space is limited. If the player only has a few Barracks, the benefit of building other Barracks will be more impactful for the cost.

Perfusion stacks multiplicatively with their team bonus, which gives a 20% work rate boost, for a net 140% work rate boost over a generic civilization. This further stacks with Conscription, though the percentage increase is the same when compared to other civilizations with Conscription. When combined with Anarchy, the other Goth unique technology researched in the Castle Age, the Goths are capable of quickly and efficiently swarming their enemies with Huskarls.

Team bonuses[]

History[]

A migratory people like the Goths had the ability to put armies in the field quickly. Their whole civilization was in a sense an army in the field. The youth of the Goths learned the skills of a warrior at an early age. The entire male population could become fighters in hours. Rivals learned not to let the Goths get close, if possible, and not to antagonize them if they did approach.

Trivia[]

Perfusion is the passage of fluid through the circulatory system or lymphatic system to an organ or a tissue, usually referring to the delivery of blood to a capillary bed in tissue. The name itself could be a reference to how the effect of the technology produces a steady flow of units from a Barracks, much like blood.
