The Pavilion is an unconstructable building in Age of Empires II. Like Houses, Pavilions provide five population and are affected by all technologies that affect building as well as any other bonuses that affect them. They appear in some campaigns and are available in the Scenario Editor (under the Building tab, formerly under Other tab).

There are three separate types of Pavilion, different in appearance. Each player starts with a Pavillion in the Marketplace map.

Joan of Arc[]

  • An Unlikely Messiah: There are several Pavilions at the French army camp.
  • The Rising: The English Guards and Rheims have a few Pavilions. The player is also granted some Pavilions in their starting settlement.
  • The Siege of Paris: Joan's starting army camp consists of Pavilions.

Saladin[]

Barbarossa[]

  • The Lombard League There are several Pavilions in Henry the Lion's base.
  • Barbarossa's March: There are Pavilions at the Hospitallers' camp.
  • The Emperor Sleeping: Richard the Lion's and Saladin's forces have several Pavilions on the border with each other. Saladin's forces also have Pavilions in the center of the map.

El Cid[]

  • Brother against Brother: There is a Pavilion next to the Castle near the tournament grounds.
  • The Enemy of my Enemy: There are Pavilions at the player's starting position, as well as in Toledo around the Moorish Castle.
  • The Exile of the Cid: There are Pavilions at Berenguer's army camp outside the walls of Zaragoza.
  • Black Guards: There are Pavilions at the player's town, as well as on the outskirts of Black Guard's main base.
  • King of Valencia: There are a few Pavilions on the path to Lérida, next to a few Gaia units.

Battles of the Conquerors[]

  • Hastings: Saxon Raiders in Normandy have several Pavilions. Saxon Navy's holdings in the mainland have some Pavilions by the Castle.
  • Agincourt: French Knights have several Pavilions in their northeastern base.
  • Manzikert: The Seljuk Turks and the Saracens have Yurts in their camps.

Alaric[]

  • The Battle of the Frigidus: There are Pavilions in every camp except for Stilicho's camp.
  • Razing Hellas: There are Pavilions inside the starting Goth camp. There are also some comprising a small Byzantine camp in the center of the map, and some more in northwest Byzantine base.
  • The Belly of the Beast: Several Pavilions are controlled by Goths in the starting area. Some more are present on the island leading to Ravenna, and within the forward camp that comes under the control of Sarus.
  • The Giant Falls: There are Pavilions inside all three Gothic encampments. There are also Pavilions inside the northeastern garrison by the edge of the map.
  • A Kingdom of Our Own: The Roman army and Sarus's Goths control Pavilions inside their camps.

Bari[]

  • Arrival at Bari: Frankish forces besieging Bari have several Pavilions within their camp.
  • The Rebellion of Melus: Pavilions are present inside the three Lombard camps.
  • Loose Ends: Several Pavilions are present inside the Byzantine base, as well as the Norman and Varangian bases.
  • The Best Laid Plans: Datus' base and the Norman mercenaries' camp have Pavilions in them.
  • The Onrushing Tide: Norman Besiegers have Pavilions present inside their bases. There is also a single Pavilion by the coast in Bari.

Sforza[]

  • Mercenaries and Masters: Sforza's, Piccinino's, Carmagnola's and Florentines' bases contain multiple Pavilions.
  • His Own Man: Piccinino's two outlying bases contain several Pavilions.
  • Prodigal Son: Piccinino's northern and eastern outlying bases contain several Pavilions.
  • Blood and Betrayal: Sforza's starting camp contains Pavilions. There is a Pavilion alongside some Condottieri to the east of Sforza's camp.
  • Viva Sforza!: Sforza's camp and the Venetian base contain Pavilions.

Battles of the Forgotten[]

  • Bapheus: The Catalan Company have several Pavilions in the top corner of the map.
  • Honfoglalás: The Byzantines have a camp with several Pavilions.
  • York: There are Pavilions in the two eastern Mercian bases, the eastern Northumbrian base, northern Welsh base and in a base belonging to the Northern Irish Kingdoms in the middle of Ireland.
  • Lake Poyang: A single Pavilion belonging to the Pirates is located in the east, close to a local village.
  • Bukhara: The Sogdian Cataphracts are stationed by several Pavilions.

Francisco de Almeida[]

  • The Old World: There are Pavilions in all bases of the Aragonese army, and in the Juanistas' portion of Zamora.
  • Estado da India: The player has six Pavilions in their starting location.
  • A Son's Blood: Both Francisco's troops and Afonso's Armada have Pavilions under their control.

Yodit[]

  • Path of Exile: Friendly Shotel Warriors are stationed by several solitary Pavilions around the southern and western section of the map.
  • A Fallen Crown: Alodian rebels have several Pavilions within their base. Alodian Merchants also control some Pavilions in their base.
  • Welcome Home: Northeastern local village contains a few Pavilions.

Kotyan Khan[]

  • The Battle at the Kalka River: Kiev has several Pavilions outside the city.
  • Blood for Blood: The Hungarian Nobles have a camp containing Pavilions in the eastern corner of the map. They have some more in front of their southern fort.
  • A New Home: There are several Gaia Pavilions the player can gain in the Bulgarian side of the map as well as some belonging to the Bulgarians.

Edward Longshanks[]

  • Vain Ambition: The Baronial forces under Simon the Younger are stationed with several Pavilions next to Kenilworth. There are also Pavilions in the base of the baronial forces further east.
  • Of Castles and Kings: There are Pavilions in the starting area, by the second Castle, and in the base of the Marcher lords that Edward gains control of after the Castles are constructed.
  • Toom Tabard: Pavilions are present in the camps of both the English and Scottish armies, and in the camp outside of Berwick.
  • Hammer of the Scots: Pavilions are again present in the camps of English and Scottish armies, as well as in the camp of Wallace's army.

Grand Dukes[]

  • A Kingdom Divided: Burgundian and Bavarian bases contain Pavilions. There are also Pavilions in the two Rebel Supply Camps.
  • The Wolf and the Lion: English Mercenaries have a base with several Pavilions in the northwest.
  • The Cleansing of Paris: Armagnac forces have Pavilions next to the Relic Carts and the Butcher prison, as well as a couple southwest of Paris.
  • Unholy Marriage: The Bavarian base has some Pavilions in its eastern reaches.
  • The Hook and Cod Wars: The initial camp of the Cods is composed of Pavilions. There are also Pavilions in the eastern English base.
  • The Maid Falls: There are Pavilions in the starting camps of the Burgundians and the French army. Compiegne's Pavilions are located outside its walls by the northern Castle, and by the northern river blockade.

William Wallace[]

  • Preparing for Battle: There are a few Pavilions at the army camp of the Scottish Allies outside the village where the scenario begins.

The Hautevilles[]

  • Guiscard Arrives: The middle Norman barony has several Pavilions.
  • Bohemond and the Emperor: There are Byzantines have several Pavilions in western Greece and on the border with the Pechenegs. The eastern Norman expedition also has Pavilions in their camp.
  • Bohemond in the East: There are some Pavilions in the southwest section of Antioch.

Algirdas and Kestutis[]

  • Family Affairs: Both of the Teutonic Raiders camps have Pavilions. There are also Pavilions on the outskirts of Vilnius.
  • No Man's Land: Algirdas' camp in the east of the map has several Pavilions as does the southernmost Teutonic Order settlement, close to the Fortress.
  • The Tatar Yoke: Kestutis' town has several Pavilions.
  • A Worthy Opponent: Mikhail of Tver has a camp with Pavilions north-east of his town near the river crossing.
  • In the Shadow of the Throne: Jogaila's loyalists start with a camp containing Pavilions.

Jadwiga[]

  • The Matter of the Crown: The base outside Krakow and the base of the Mazovian forces both contain Pavilions. There is one more Pavilion in the Siege Engineer's camp.
  • Star of the Poles: The starting Polish camp has some Pavilions.
  • Duel of the Dukes: The starting Polish base has some Pavilions. There are also Pavilions in the Teutonic Order's base.
  • The Siege of Vilnius: Camps of the Teutonic Order and raiders have Pavilions, as well as the camp of Vytautas' troops.
  • Vytautas' Crusade: There is a Pavilion in Vozia.
  • The Fruits of Her Labor: There are numerous Pavilions across the map, in mercenary camps, Jogialla's and Vytautas' bases, Polish army's camp by the eastern Teuton fort which also contains Pavilions inside and around it, in the base of the Lizard Union, and in every camp during the final battle.

Babur[]

  • Into India: Babur's starting camp is composed of Yurts and Pavilions.
  • The Battle of Panipat: Ottoman Forces have some Pavilions. Delhi's Auxiliaries also have some Pavilions by their Supply Stores.
  • The Rajputs: Portuguese have Pavilions in their base.

Thoros II[]

  • Outlawed: Both of the Byzantine Garrison camps and the two southern Byzantine towns contain Pavilions.
  • The Emperor's Revenge: The western and northern Byzantine camps have Pavilions in them. Likewise both Hethumid camps contain Pavilions. Another Pavilion is occupied by scattered Armenian troops in the southeast.
  • Caught in the Crossfire: All Knights Templar camps contain Pavilions.
  • Of Turncoats and Traitors: Southern and eastern Byzantine Army camps have multiple Pavilions.

Victors and Vanquished[]

  • Charlemagne: The Minor Factions have several Pavilions in their bases.
  • Drake: The southern and eastern Spanish Settlements have Pavilions in them.
  • Constantine XI and Fetih: Genoese Galata have several Pavilions.
  • Ironside: There are a few Pavilions outside Francia's base to the west.
  • Komnenos: The Normans have Pavilions in their base.
  • Mstislav: Other Factions have some Pavilions in the bases which guard the entry towards their bases which have Pagan Shrines.
  • Ragnar: The Franks have several Pavilions in army camps along the shoreline.
  • Seljuk: Several Pavilions surround the wonder on all sides and several more on the Byzantine southwestern camp.
  • Stephen: There are a few Pavilions in the eastern base of Empress Matilda. The eastern and western bases of Earl Ranulf of Chester also have some Pavilions.
