Patch 5.0 is a patch accompanying the launch of Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas. The patch notes of this patch also include balance changes of patch 4.8.
The introduction of Rise of the Rajas came with a host of changes to the game, with the game version being incremented from 4.9 to 5.0. Some of the changes included in this new game version affect only those in possession of the expansion (content additions and balance changes) and others (bugfixes and UI improvements) affect all players equally.
Balance changes and bug fixes[]
The following list contains intentional balance changes as well as bug fixes to previously intended changes.
General[]
- Fire Galley pierce armor reduced from 5 to 4.
- Demolition Raft:
- No longer does full damage to its complete blast radius (damage increases based on proximity).
- Blast radius increased from 1.5 to 2.5.
- Pierce armor reduced from 3 to 2.
- Hit points reduced from 50 to 45.
- Guard Towers' secondary arrows now do +2 attack instead of +1.[note 1]
- Arrowslits now affects secondary arrows.
- Repairing Town Center in the Dark Age no longer uses stone.
- Spanish, Hun, Mayan, Inca, Magyar, Slavic, Ethiopian and Malian Monks now recharge faith at the same rate as other civs.
Britons[]
- Yeomen now affects the secondary arrows of towers.
Incas[]
- Incas no longer get a starting Llama when Full Tech Tree is enabled.
Indians[]
- New Indian architectural style (replacing the current Middle Eastern for the Indians).
- Gol Gumbaz Wonder moved to Scenario Editor, replaced with a new Wonder.
Italians[]
- Condottiero creation time increased from 13s to 16s.[Citation needed]
- Genoese Crossbowman cost reduced from 50 wood, 50 gold to 45 wood, 45 gold.
Koreans[]
- Turtle Ship is now properly affected by the Turkish team bonus.
- Turtle Ships now receive bonus damage from Condottiero and Samurai.
Persians[]
- Persian War Elephant now does trample damage in the Castle Age.
Portuguese[]
- (Elite) Organ Guns have 1 min range now.
- (Elite) Organ Gun lose +1 bonus attack vs infantry.
Vikings[]
- Condottiero now receive anti-cavalry bonus damage from Chieftains.
- Militia-line now receives anti-camel bonus damage from Chieftains.
Map changes[]
- Sandbank, Pacific Islands, and Water Nomad no longer generate Stork units which was triggering inaccessible dlc unit errors for people that didn't have The African Kingdoms.
Campaign changes[]
- Dracula 3 now loads. / vs \ in embedded AI path names no longer matter for scenario makers.
- El Cid tool tip is now displaying.
- El Cid button SFX is now playing.
- Sforza 1 now gives the orange player a soldier correctly.
Matchmaking[]
- Player profile no longer crashes when creating game for small group of users.
- Player colors now reset when creating games.
- Loading into gameplay should no longer drop users (saying game cancelled) as we now ensure the "close lobby" command triggers after "game launch".
- Rotating civ pool now has a cleaner format.
General AI improvements[]
- Improved boar-luring for AIs. AIs will not send weak villagers to lure boars, nor will they ungarrison weakened villagers if a boar is nearby the Town Center.
- AIs will not task hunters luring boars to other activities, such as building.
- Villagers being attacked will not chase attackers indefinetly now, instead returning to their previous task after a few seconds without combat.
- AI players in the first slot of single player games will receive chat messages from other AIs.
- Improved building placement performance for AI, especially late game on Islands-like maps.
- AI scripts can send taunts to themselves again.
- Add AI script symbols for Rise of the Rajas civilizations and maps.
- Invalid AI scripts have more descriptive error messages, similar to the original CD release.
- Fixes for sn-enable-patrol-attack, sn-enable-training-queue, and sn-gather-idle-soldiers.
- Fixed delete-building script action not working properly
Other changes[]
- Spectator button is now visible for Original Data set (if the user owns DLC).
- Selection circle under units now update at the same rate as unit movement.
- Maps are now in alphabetized order.
- Font colors have been tuned to match 4.7 (Open/Closed colors are brighter). Also now moddable. Look for uicolors.txt inside the dat folder.
- Lock teams option now functions correctly.
- Display instructions messages/dialogues now respect the editors selected color.
- Voiceover files are now loading in the appropriate localized versions (where applicable).
- Multiple localization fixes have been made.
- Master of the Forgotten achievement is now hooked up properly.
Notes[]
- โ Watch Towers have 5 attack. Originally, Guard Towers had 6 attack, which was increased to 7 in The Forgotten. However, this change only affected the primary arrow, while the secondary arrows continued to deal 6 attack (+1 over the Watch Tower's). It was fixed to do 7 attack (+2 over the Watch Tower's).
