Paradise Island is a custom map in Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings.
Description[]
Paradise Island is a tropical map set on a large island surrounded by a ring of ocean full of fish. Each player's Town Center begins on the shoreline, with an abundance of Forage Bushes and Shore Fish at the beach. The place is heavily forested, but contains a few Boars as the only huntables, and an absence of herdables. There are some Jaguars wandering about this map to be wary of. Old stone heads are littered about the place mysteriously.
The Relics are standard on this map, and the gold deposits above average. However, most of the Relics are situated in a central lake on the island, upon which are some clumped trees, shore fish, and a mountain. On this tiny crater lake, decorated with stone heads, are most of the Relics on the map, but all are guarded by a prowl of fierce Jaguars.
Viable tactics[]
The beginning of a game on this map is more easygoing. Exploring the island is an adventure to look for the central island and finding hills on which to build forward bases. There's a greater emphasis on contending with other people for territorial control of the island, or of the abundant fish in the waters surrounding the island. All of the fighting will inevitably come to a head in the central lake however, as people will be scrambling to capture the Relics there, guarded by Jaguars.
Civilizations with strong naval booming capabilities (like the Japanese, Italians, Hindustanis, and Persians) will have a fine time on this map. Strong naval military powers like the Vikings and Spanish will fare well here, too.
