The Pandour is a ranged infantry unit based on the Schiavone. Both units share most of their stats, having the same hit points, resistance against ranged damage, speed, and Line of Sight, but slightly less hand attack, almost twice as much ranged attack, taking two population spaces instead of one, costing coin, and having less train time. Additionally, Pandours are able to use stealth, which makes them move slower (half speed) but turns them invisible to most enemies.
The Pandour is effective at countering light infantry units due to its ranged multipliers, and it is slightly effective against heavy infantry. It lacks multipliers against light cavalry, and is vulnerable against cavalry and shock infantry due to its low hit points and lack of hand resistance. However, they are very useful if the enemy constantly uses Skirmishers or light infantry that can take down heavy infantry. Unlike Schiavoni, Pandours deal additional damage against villagers in melee combat, making them effective units if they are combined with Oprichniks to raid enemy settlements and decrease their economy.
Pandours are available as one of the random selected mercenaries to be trained at the Tavern, Saloon, Monastery or the Palace.
Civilization differences[]
The Germans can train Pandours if the player sends the "Mercenary Camps" Home City Card, which upgrades the Tavern to the Mercenary Camp. Also, the Germans' Battleships can train Pandours through the "Adler von Lübeck" Home City Card (if they are available in the Tavern).
The United States can get Pandours through the "Poker" Home City Card, in the pool of random mercenaries shipped, which also randomly enables them in Saloons.
Revolutions[]
Pandours can also be obtained after revolting to Hungary or Romania. For the Germans, every existing and new constructed Outpost spawns a Pandour after revolting; additionally, both of the revolutionary nations can send a "10 Pandours" shipment, which also enables their creation at the Tavern, Barracks, Forts, Galleons, and Outposts (Blockhouses if revolting from the Russians).
"Hire Pandours" is available to the Germans (with +2 extra Pandours), Maltese, and Russians.
"Loyal Warriors" is available to the Italians, Maltese, Ottomans, and Portuguese upon revolting to the Barbary States.
"10 Pandours" is available to the Germans, Maltese, Ottomans, and Russians upon revolting to Hungary, and to the Ottomans and Russians upon revolting to Romania.
"Wanderlust" is available to the British and Dutch upon revolting to South Africa, and can be sent 3 times.

The Pandours were light infantrymen of the Hungarian military during the 18th century, generally drawn from Slavic border regions, especially Croatia. While effective, they were undisciplined, and tended to rely on a reputation for ferocity and individual prowess in combat, making them useful tools at times and a hindrance to military cohesion in others. In an effort to mitigate the latter issue, the Habsburgs imprisoned their commander, the troublesome Baron von der Trenck, and modified their structure so as to become more manageable – yet their fearsome reputation remained.
Historically, the Pandours began as irregular light infantry troops raised as a militia to defend the border with the Ottomans. Eventually, by the time of the Napoleonic Wars these frontier troopers became light infantry regiments known as Grenzers.
Prior to being introduced as a proper mercenary unit in Knights of the Mediterranean, revolting into Hungary as the Germans granted Jaegers with +10% speed and renamed as "Pandours"; sending the namesake Home City Card available to Hungary and Romania granted the same effect, in addition to making them available from military buildings.
Contrary to its in-game description, the Pandour it is not classified as a Skirmisher, due to not being tagged as light infantry.
