The Pagoda is a unique dynastybuilding in Age of Empires IV available to the Chinese and Zhu Xi's Legacy. A single Relic can be placed in a Pagoda to generate 62 food, 62 wood, 100 gold, 25 stone per minute. For comparison, a Relic placed in a Monastery with Tithe Barns generates 40 food, 40 wood, 80 gold, 10 stone per minute. Thus, the Pagoda offers a higher rate of resource generation per Relic, at the disadvantage of only being able to hold a single Relic. Like all dynasty buildings, a maximum of three Pagodas can be built.
Zhu Xi's Legacy (Can train Shaolin Monks and generates taxes from creating them)
Changelog[]
Originally, Pagodas were only available in the Ming Dynasty. With the Season One Update, they are unlocked upon reaching the Yuan Dynasty and available for the rest of the game.
Being able to build three Pagodas and them being available in Ming Dynasty (initially) might be a reference to Ming Emperor Taizu division of Buddhist temples into three types, as well as the first Ming Emperor's earlier path as a Buddhist monk.
Pagodas currently being available in the Yuan Dynasty likely reflects the absolute zenith of Buddhism in China, where the ruling class patronized Buddhism and made it the state religion.
