Strategy[]
Oromo is a good middle-to-late game complement to the economy for the Ethiopians. Oromo enables Goats at the Livestock Market and ships many of them; this is important, as livestock is one of the sources of influence for African civilizations, and it is not an easy resource to get. The Goats can be traded like the Zebu Cattle, so if the player needs more coin or wood, they can sell them. It is usually better to pick Oromo for aging up to the Industrial Age rather than the Imperial Age, since the economic advantages provided will be more impactful in the long run.
Oromo also offers Irreecha, which is a technology that makes Fields give 10 influence when built. This makes a great combo if the player has Draft Oxen (Zebu Cattle and Prize Bulls can build Fields and work on them) and Advanced Agriculture (Fields and Granaries get +75% hit points and build time -50%; Fields are free) in their deck. With these two shipments and this technology, the player may use livestock to make Fields that costs no resources, get some influence in return, and then use the livestock to work at the Fields.
Oromo also gives the player some military support in the form of the the Gadaa System technology, which gives all units more hit points and attack. The economic focus and Gadaa System make Oromo a flexible pick at the midgame, especially when the player craves more influence. Using Oromo in combination with the Habesha in the Commerce Age and Indians in the Fortress Age is the best way for the player to secure influence generation and perform an economic boom. While the Habesha improve Mountain Monasteries, the Indians ship influence and provide a lot of economic upgrades, and the Oromo enable Goats and more economic upgrades. With this economic boom, the player may more freely pick any alliance in the Imperial Age, since the remaining alliances at that point will all have a military focus.
Recommended Alliances[]
The Oromo is a very flexible alliance that synergizes well with all other alliances, as it helps to generate influence. As mentioned previously, it is preferable in many cases to pick first Habesha, then Indians, and then the Oromo, in order to have a good economic boom. If the player prefers to defend for a while, boom first and attack in the late game with fully improved units.
