“ | Cavalry regenerates HP in combat. | ” |
—In-game description |
Ordo Cavalry is a technology in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - The Three Kingdoms that is unique to the Khitans and can be researched at the Castle in the Imperial Age. Once researched, it causes melee cavalry units to regenerate hit points while attacking other units, at the rate of 1.5× current maximum hit points per minute.
Effect[]
For example, if a unit has 100 maximum hit points (including effects of bonuses or technologies which change maximum hit points), it will regenerate 150 hit points per minute (2.5 hit points per second) of attacking other units.
The unit does not need to complete an attack cycle to gain the benefit from the technology. The regeneration occurs during the entire interval of the attack. So, completing only a quarter of the attack cycle grants 25% of the total regeneration that the entire attack cycle grants. This happens when the player decides to disengage from combat. Moreover, the attack cycle starts when the attacking unit is in melee range of the enemy unit, so charging the enemy units at a distance does not grant regeneration. As such, cavalry units gain no benefit when chasing an archer army which they cannot get close to when attacking, and lose hit points in the process. In this case, Ordo Cavalry does not make up for missing Bloodlines.
Except for the Hussar, all cavalry units available to the Khitans which benefit from this technology attack once every 2 seconds. As such, an easy way to calculate the effect is to think that the attacking unit regenerates 5% of its maximum hit points every attack cycle. For the Hussar, the effect is 4.75%, for a total of 3.56 hit points every attack cycle.
Team bonuses[]
Portuguese: Researching Ordo Cavalry is 25% faster.
Trivia[]
- Despite being a cavalry unit, the Mounted Trebuchet does not benefit from it, because it lacks the "Tasks" which enable this behavior.
- Ordo was the term used for one regiment of standing army in the Liao dynasty, consisting of heavily armored, medium armored, and unarmored cavalry. The English word horde is a cognate to it and has a similar meaning.
