The Oracle's Temple is an unconstructable building in Chronicles: Battle for Greece. They are decorative buildings used in campaign scenarios, and can be found in the Scenario Editor.

Its appearance reuses the civilization's model for their Temple (Chronicles civilizations) / Monastery (Age of Empires II civilizations). Just like said buildings, Oracle's Temple cannot be converted, and even gives a warning message when trying to delete.

In several scenarios of the campaign, the player gains control of the Oracle's Temple after discovering the location of the Oracle and carrying out other prerequisites. At this building, the player can choose one of several aura effects which benefit their hero character (for the current as well as subsequent scenarios).

  • Greeks Bearing Gifts: The Oracle's Temple is located to the northeast of Miletus. Artaphernes can unlock an aura by visiting the Temple.
  • The Ionian Revolt: The Oracle of Apollo is located in a mountain pass in the northeast of the map. It can be accessed after gaining the trust of the Lydians who dwell in the mountains, by building a Town Center in their lands.
  • Chasing Smoke: The Temple of Mithra is located in the south of the map. Artaphernes can unlock an aura there after recovering Artemisia's horse from some local bandits.
  • The Battle of Marathon: The Oracle's Temple is located in a mountain pass in the far west of the map. Themistocles can unlock an aura there after bringing ten Goats to the Temple for sacrifice.
  • Divine Salamis: The Temple of Athena is nestled among the mountains on the northern coast of Salamis. Themistocles can unlock an aura there by bringing five "serving girls" (Priestesses) to the Temple.
  • To the Wall!: The Olympieion is a renamed Oracle's Temple.

Trivia[]

  • It shows a garrison capacity of 10, but cannot be garrisoned by any unit or object, including Relics.
  • For the Armenians and Georgians, it uses the default Mediterranean Monastery model rather than the Fortified Church model.
  • While having neither a unique model nor icon compared to regular Temples, the purpose of this building to exist separately is to easily provide a place for custom technologies (such as the aura effects in Battle for Greece) to be researched without overlapping with the functions of regular Temples.
