Open Plains mini map with eight players
Open Plains is a special random map introduced in Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms.
Overview[]
Open Plains is a team-based map that pits two enemy players in the center of an open map and their allies in a safe position behind them, forming somewhat of an arrow pointing towards the other team. The players in the center of the map are placed rather close together whereas the other players are far off close to the edges of the map, making sling strategies a promising strategy. Wood is rather sparse on the map and bound to run out on longer games. The map features no water.
Environment[]
The landscape is a savannah that is sparsely forested and overall not overly rich with resources. The only animals found on the map (apart from the players' starting positions) are Lions.
Starting resources[]
The following resources are found close to every player's starting Town Center and can freely be gathered at the game start. As trees as a source of wood are easily accessible on every map and hard to pinpoint to a number, they are not listed here.
