Okuchichibu is a random map introduced in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear, named for the Okuchichibu Mountains in central Japan. It is a relatively closed land map broken up by many cliffs, which provide chokepoints through numerous valleys and passes connecting players' bases.
Overview[]

| โ | In the shadow of the Okuchichibu Mountains, narrow passes are the only way to access the defensible plateaus holding vital Settlements. Claim them to fight from a position of strength, and use the narrow, dangerous passes to your defensive advantage. | โ |

Players start in a valley with plentiful resources. Additional Settlements are atop defensible cliffs or mountain valleys with narrow entrances. While the forests and cliffs provide many defensible chokepoints, the numerous openings and paths leading from one player's base to another can make attacks somewhat unpredictable, especially in games with more than two players. Booming players should claim the defensible Settlements near their starting Town Center quickly and wall off all entrances to make the most of the closed nature of the map.
Starting hunt consists of Chickens, Deer, Spotted Deer, and sometimes Serows or Boars, close to the Town Center. Additional herds โand sometimes Green Pheasants as wellโ are scattered throughout the map. Black Bears appear as predators, and Goats as herdables.
