This article is about the hero in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors. For the scenario in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Victors and Vanquished, see Nobunaga.

Nobunaga is an infantry hero available in the Scenario Editor in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors. He also appears in the Kyoto scenario. He is based on Oda Nobunaga (織田 信長), who was a powerful daimyō of Japan in the late 16th century who attempted to unify Japan. Nobunaga was regarded as one of three unifiers of Japan along with his retainers Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu.

In-game, he has the appearance of an Elite Samurai. His stats are similar, but he has lightning-fast attack, striking twice per second (as opposed to once per two seconds, which is the standard Rate of Fire for melee units). Like other infantry, Nobunaga is affected by all technologies that affect infantry as well as any other bonuses that affect them. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.

Campaign appearances[]

Historical Battles[]

  • Kyoto: Nobunaga is besieged at Kyoto and will be killed by the rebellious enemy forces.
  • Kurikara: All Taira field commanders are renamed Nobunaga. They need to be killed alongside their armies to break the Taira clan. Yoshinaka, Minamoto's cousin, is also a renamed Nobunaga and holds the city of Kurikara, awaiting supplies and reinforcements from Minamoto.

Victors and Vanquished[]

  • Nobunaga: Nobunaga leads the Oda clan in southeast Honshu, one of six major clans vying for control of Japan.
