Strategy[]
Nüba's improvements target myth units and ranged soldiers. Rock Solid boosts the armor of myth units, also allowing them to boost their armor even further when standing still. Scorching Feathers allows ranged soldiers to wear down enemy units' armor while attacking them, making them easier to finish off. It is even more powerful when paired with Fuxi's Yang bonus, which boosts all human soldiers' attack by 10% for four minutes. Drought Ships also makes her Fishing Ships riskier to raid, as they will explode when sunk, damaging nearby enemy units and briefly rendering them motionless. However, making full use of Drought Ships requires micromanagement of the Fishing Ships to attack enemy raiders.
Her myth unit, the Taotie, is a faceless monster that uses human units and Caravans as food, growing stronger and larger in size with each human unit it consumes. After eating ten human units, it reaches maximum size and strength, strong enough to destroy both buildings and myth units on its own. It can also sacrifice its size and strength to trigger a fiery blast that damages all enemies in a small area. Bottomless Stomach makes the Taotie able to consume human units more often.
Nüba provides a highly powerful offensive god power, Drought. When invoked, it reduces the hit points of all enemy buildings in the target area by a considerable amount and makes them more vulnerable to attack. It also blocks any construction and repairs in the target area for the duration, further allowing the player's own units to destroy the enemy base and wipe out any resistance. Drought can be combined with powerful Mythic Age god powers like Blazing Prairie or Great Flood to raze an enemy town. Additionally, it affects destructible buildings spawned by god powers, such as Lure stones or Asgardian Hill Forts.
For Shennong players, choosing Chiyou in the Classical Age, Nüba in Heroic, and Zhurong in Mythic will strengthen Shennong's myth units, which are more readily accessible to him due to his bonus, making the Yazi, Taotie, and Zhuque indomitable in strength. Chiyou and Nüba also both benefit the player's human soldiers, as the latter grants Scorching Feathers to ranged soldiers, allowing their attacks wear down enemy armor, while the former grants the Lightning Weapons god power, allowing human soldiers and ships to temporarily stun enemies. Likewise, Rock Solid and Flaming Blood will benefit the player's myth units, even the ones spawned via the Gift of Beasts Blessing (e.g. Baihu and Qinglong).
Mythology[]
“ | Nüba is the goddess of drought. She possesses the power to dry up the land and prevent rainfall. In mythology, Nüba assisted Huangdi in his war against Chiyou. When Chiyou summoned a wind god and a rain god to fight, Nüba descended from heaven and used her drought powers to counter their wind and rain. After the battle, instead of returning to heaven, Nüba roamed the earth, causing droughts wherever she appeared. |
