This man has one goal; to destroy everything he can and to cause as much suffering as possible. It is probably why they started calling him Mor Havoc.
—In-game description in the Definitive Edition

Mor Havoc (named Hero Mor Havoc before Return of Rome) is a hero in Age of Empires. His model is identical to that of a trainable Priest.

Overview[]

Except for the hit points, he shares the same properties of Amon Ra, having a 40% speed increase, but civilization bonuses, Polytheism, and Afterlife do not affect them. Since the speed for priests is 0.8, this means that the speed for Mor Havoc is 1.12. Afterlife gives Priests +3 range. Mor Havoc has a longer range (range of 12) than regular priests (range of 10), but less than if one has Polytheism, which gives priests (but not Mor Havoc) a range of 13.

Campaign appearance[]

He belongs to the Libyan player in Wreck of the Hyksos, which is the Beta version of the official scenario The Holy Man. The scenario was part of the Dawn of Civilization beta campaign. The title apparently alludes to the term "Wreak Havoc," a common use of the word Havoc in English speech.

Trivia[]

  • His name is an apparent pun : "Mor" is western Aramaic (the Aramaic of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine) for "Saint" and the Syriac Orthodox Church typically prefixes its saints' names with "Mor" instead of "Saint.", which is fitting as the unit looks like a Priest. Additionally, "Havoc" is English for mass destruction or chaos. "Mor Havoc" sounds like "More Havoc", which is also referenced in the unit's description, making it a playful homophone as well.
