Modding is very popular with Age of Mythology users. Modding is the act of modifying a game, in this case AoM, to add units, buildings and other objects.
Modding
Modding is mostly done using a program called AoM Edit, or AoMed, which decodes important files; other programs are also used. Modding usually involves editing the unit define file (proto.xml or protox.xml), the technology file (techtree.xml or techtreex.xml), a DLL file (language.dll or xpacklanguage.dll), creating a 3D model, and an animation file.
