This article is about the technology in Age of Empires IV. For the building in Age of Mythology, see Military Academy (Age of Mythology). |
Military Academy is a technology in Age of Empires IV that can be researched at the Blacksmith (or Forge for the Japanese) starting in the Castle Age. Once researched, it increases the production speed of infantry, cavalry, siege, and transport units at buildings by 33%. It is available to all civilizations except the Ottomans, which have an influence bonus from their Blacksmiths and Universities.
The effect is the same as -25% training time or -35% for the improved Mongol version.
Civilization bonuses[]
- Abbasid Dynasty: Research speeds are +15%/+20% faster while Golden Age tiers 2/3 are active. If Preservation of Knowledge has been researched, this technology costs -20%.
- Ayyubids: Research speeds are 25% faster while Golden Age tier 2 is active
- Byzantines: Research speeds are 30% faster per water level at buildings within the influence of a Cistern with the Dialecticus ability active.
- Chinese and Zhu Xi's Legacy: The technology researches 150% faster when the Blacksmith is supervised by an Imperial Official. For Zhu Xi's Legacy, this can be improved to 300% faster after researching Regional Inspection.
- Delhi Sultanate: The technology is free, but takes 5x as long to research (300 seconds instead of 60 seconds).
- Holy Roman Empire and Order of the Dragon: The technology is 50% cheaper and faster to complete if researched at the Meinwerk Palace.
- Malians: Technologies take less time to research based on how much gold has been obtained through trade.
- Mongols: Can research improved technology for another 350 stone to increase military unit production rate by an additional +20% (+53% total).
Campaign version[]
Because the four original campaigns have not been rebalanced since the release of the game, Military Academy has the following main differences in these campaigns:
- It costs 50 wood, 450 gold, and the Mongol improved version correspondingly costs +500 stone
- It has the same effect, but the tooltip incorrectly states that it increases production speed by 25% (instead of reducing training time by 25%).
