“ | Trade unit used for generating gold and wood at another player's Dock/Port. | ” |
—Chronicles description |
The Merchant Ship is a civilian ship in Chronicles that can be trained at the Port once the Civic Age is reached. It is identical in attributes to the Trade Cog in Age of Empires II, but is internally a separate unit.
Trade[]
Merchant Ships can trade for gold and wood between the player's Port and another player's Port or Dock. The Merchant Ship travels from the player's Port to the targeted trade site, upon reaching which it generates resources in its carried stockpile. The resources generated increases proportionally to the distance between the two buildings that the trader is trading with, per unit of distance as well as unit time. When the ship returns, it drops off the resources at the player's Port which is then added to the player's resource stockpile.
Three options to select the ratio of wood and gold are available at the Ports:
- Merchant Ships return 25% wood and 75% gold from trading
- Merchant Ships return 50% wood and 50% gold from trading
- Merchant Ships return 75% wood and 25% gold from trading
