Merchant Guilds is a unique technology in Age of Empires IV that can normally be researched at the Market in the Imperial Age by the French and Jeanne d'Arc. Once researched, active Traders generate 1 gold every 6 seconds. It can also be researched at the Royal Institute starting in the Castle Age at -30% cost, or at the Chamber of Commerce with normal age requirements and cost.

- Originally, the cost of this technology was 140 food, 350 gold. With patch 11.1.1201, the economic technology discount for French and Jeanne d'Arc was increased from 30% to 35%, reducing the cost of this technology to 130 food, 325 gold.
