Marching Drills was a unique technology in Age of Empires IV available to the Holy Roman Empire that could be researched at the Blacksmith starting in the Feudal Age. Once researched, it granted all infantry units and Prelates a movement speed increase of 10%.
Marching Drills was 40% cheaper and researched in 43 seconds if researched at the Meinwerk Palace. It is also granted for free to Mercenary Landsknechts for the Byzantines when they advanced to the Imperial Age with the Foreign Engineering Company.
With Season Seven, the technology was reworked as a civilization bonus (essentially made free since the start of the game) for the Holy Roman Empire which does not apply to Prelates.
Changelog[]
- Originally, Marching Drills cost 100 food, 250 gold, took 90 seconds to research, and only affected infantry. With the Season One Update, it cost 50 food, 125 gold, took 60 seconds to research, and also affected Prelates.
Trivia[]
- The Holy Roman Empire mastery still mentions researching Marching Drills after the rework in Season Seven, despite the technology having been removed in the same update.
- Marching Drills is still counted as a technology for the Byzantine Mercenary Landsknechts, and hence is researched for them after constructing the Foreign Engineering Company.
