Marauders is a technology in Age of Empires II: The Forgotten that is unique to the Huns and can be researched at the Castle. Once researched, Tarkans can be trained at the Stable. Since Stables are significantly cheaper than Castles, this makes it easier to field large armies of Tarkans quickly.
Strategy[]
Marauders is a very situational technology. Tarkans are very limited in use and are rarely used in any significant quantities. Any need there is for them, such as breaking down Gates, can generally be fulfilled just through Castles. Unless the player have a legitimate reason to want more Tarkans than Castles can create or the stone is running low and the player wants to spawn Tarkans near an opponent, it is best to leave Marauders alone. Moreover, Tarkans are created in 21 seconds from Stables (16 with Conscription), which is 7 (5) seconds more than from Castles.
History[]
The Huns are routinely depicted as savage and bestial, especially by ancient writers such as Jordanes (6th century CE) and Ammianus Marcellinus (4th century CE).
Jordanes writes of the Huns under Attila: "Once again [the men] incense their spirits into attacking Aquileia. They build machines and cause all sort of torments and, without delay, break into the city and crudely plunder it, tear it apart and lay it waste. They leave it in such a state that its vestiges hardly would reveal that something once there existed."
