—Chronicles description |
The Mangonel is a Classical Age ranged siege unit in Chronicles, available at the Siege Workshop. It can be upgraded to the Onager in the Imperial Age.
All civilizations can upgrade to the Onager. Unlike its Age of Empires II counterpart, the Onager cannot be upgraded to the Siege Onager.
Tactics[]
This section needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. |
It is primarily used against large groups of enemies. Its high attack and splash damage make it a powerful unit, especially against archers and slow-moving units. As a ranged unit with blast attack, it also causes friendly fire. Its main offsets are its low projectile speed, minimum range, and tendency to harm friendly units caught in its blast.

Trivia[]
- The Mangonel is misnamed, as the unit model is actually an onager.
- Its appearance in the Battle for Greece campaign is anachronistic, as the onager was invented around the 3rd century BC and developed further by the Romans after that.[1]
