“ | Anti-building ranged infantry. Good against artillery and buildings. | ” |
—In-game description |
The Maceman is a melee heavy infantry in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition that is unique to the Incas and can be trained at the Kallanka and Stronghold, and obtained through Supay Ceremony at the Community Plaza. It is a slow and expensive, but powerful melee infantry.
Overview
Similar to a stronger version of the German Doppelsoldner, the Aztec Skull Knight and the Japanese Samurai, the Maceman possesses high hit points, deals Area of Effect damage, has a massive siege damage against buildings, and has multipliers against cavalry and light infantry. It is, however, population heavy, requiring 3 population. Although highly effective in melee combat, its low speed renders it vulnerable to artillery and light infantry.
It is also worth noting that similarly to the Chinese Meteor Hammer, the Maceman deals melee damage from range, although its is much shorter.
Upgrades
The Maceman starts as Elite, but without the increased hit points and attack.
Age | Upgrade | Cost | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Champion Macemen | 400 wood 200 coin |
Upgrades Macemen to Champion (+25% hit points and attack) | |
Legendary Macemen | 1,500 wood 1,500 coin |
Upgrades Macemen to Legendary (+50% hit points and attack); requires Champion Macemen |
