He is based on an eponymous Vietnamese historical figure (Lưu Nhân Chú (? - 1433)), who was one of the first men to join Lê Lợi's Lam Sơn insurgent army. In 1433, Lê Thái Tổ (Lê Lợi) passed away, his son Lê Thái Tông becoming a king in his youth; Lê Sát became Thái Tông's regent. Sát was jealous with Nhân Chú and he was poisoned by Lê Sát. In 1437, after Thái Tông recognized Nhân Chú's suffering, he ordered the execution of Lê Sát.
