Lord Martek is an infantry hero unit in Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. He is available only in the Scenario Editor and the campaign mode of the game.

Due to its weak stats, Lord Martek loses against nearly any unit, including the basic Villager before Return of Rome. As such, it is not suitable for combat and is only viable as a scouting unit or as a prop in a battle showcase using scenario triggers. In Return of Rome, it can beat one Villager due to all heroes gaining regeneration.

Lord Martek has the appearance of a Phalangite, but is much weaker and faster.

• Lord Martek has 0 armor, both melee and pierce, and the icon of the Centurion.

Return of Rome

• Lord Martek has 1,000 armor, and the icon of the Phalangite.

Trivia

• In the Definitive Edition, the fact that Lord Martek had 0 armor is because all units had 0 base armor, and the former did not have any armor classes. It was changed in Return of Rome, but Lord Martek was not given base melee or pierce armor with values 0.
• Unlike other units, Lord Martek doesn't have a unit description in the Definitive Edition.
• There is no recognizable historical character by this name, and the unit may be an Easter egg.
