Player's warships within 5 tiles radius attack 17.65% faster, or equivalently have -15% reload time. This effect does not stack with other Leviathans.
Tactics[]
Like the Palintonon on land, they excel against enemy buildings, and can counter shoreline defenses due to their long range. Their minimum range and slow-moving projectiles make them poor against units, especially fast-moving units. Their ability gives them a strong presence even when not facing buildings, as they can tip the balance in favor of the player who fields them in naval battles. Two Leviathans in proximity benefit each other with their ability, resulting in destroying enemy shoreline defenses more than twice as fast.
Its appearance in the Battle for Greece campaign is anachronistic, as ship-mounted stone thrower catapults were first used by Alexander the Great at the Siege of Tyre in 332 BC.[1] However, the Leviathan is disabled and cannot be used in the scenario of the Alexander the Great campaign that depicts this event.
The ballista model is reused from the War Galley from Age of Empires II.
