Leonardo's Tank is an artillery unit in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition - Knights of the Mediterranean that is unique to the Italians and can only be acquired as an age up reward after sending the "Advanced Politicians" Home City Card and aging up to the Imperial Age. It is a multiple-cannon artillery unit with a faster movement and attack speed, and highly increased hit points, that can only be acquired once per game.
Overview[]
Leonardo's Tank is an untrainable artillery unit. The only way to obtain it is by sending the "Advanced Politicians" Home City Card and choosing The Inventor to age up to the Imperial Age. This will reward the player with one Leonardo's Tank, which can only be obtained once per game and cannot be obtained again if lost. Even if it is not lost during the game, Home City cards or researching Jagiellonian Legacy will not reward the player with a second Tank.
Compared to other artillery units, Leonardo's Tank has a massive amount of hit points, more speed, faster Rate of Fire, resists ranged, melee and siege attacks, takes no population space, and has seven cannons surrounding it, but its siege attack is lesser (causes the same base siege attack as Flaming Arrows). Due to its multiple cannons, Leonardo's Tank is able to fire in any direction without having to turn almost completely in order to face the enemy's units or buildings. It has the ability to collect treasures like the Explorer or Villagers, which makes it the only artillery unit capable of doing it.
Despite these unique features, Leonardo's Tank lacks multipliers against infantry, deals less additional damage against buildings, and is vulnerable against cavalry units that can outnumber it, Culverins, Huaracas, and Arrow Knights. However, it is a highly resistant artillery piece that can take a lot of damage from most units or defensive buildings, so it could be considered a mobile fortification.
Special abilities[]
Heliocentric Attack: Leonardo's Tank fires six cannonballs instantly. 10 seconds cooldown.
Toccata Attack: Leonardo's Tank fires all its cannons in a cascading attack. 10 seconds cooldown.
Cheat unit[]
Players can obtain Leonardo's Tank as a cheat unit by typing the cheat code venividivinci in the chatbox, spawning a much stronger Tank for the user. It is similar to the regular unit, sharing its name, portrait, in-game model, and abilities, but has higher hit points, resistance, and speed, deals a massive amount of siege damage, has multipliers against infantry and ships, and can be healed.
If the player types in the code feeling whelmed now?, this will turn all units and buildings into the cheat Tank, including neutral wildlife and Treasure Guardians. The neutral Tanks can be attacked by any player, though they are not aggressive unless attacked first.
Additionally, it has a trample attack similar to The Tommynator, which deals 100 ram damage to every enemy units and trees on contact. It will not kill wild animals but will destroy their food value, so if a player hunts them, they will not give any food. Since this unit can destroys forests, players should be careful on using it if they are short on wood.
