Mythic Age - Starting resources: 350 food, 300 wood, 200 gold, 10 favor
- Starting units:
Objectives[]
- Restore the Archipelago
- Build a Dock and train a Transport Ship or Wasen. (Construct a Dock on the shore near your base. Both Transport Ship and Wasen warships can be used to transport land units. Train Fishing Ships and task them to gather food from nearby fish to support your economy.)
- Destroy the enemy statue on the Sacred Site and build a Temple in its place. (The enemy has erected statues on the desolated Sacred Sites. Destroy them and build a Temple in their place. If you have not transported villagers to the islands, you may find some held captive by the enemy near each Sacred Site.)
- Build and maintain Temples on all Sacred Sites to cleanse Magumo's corruption. (Continue sailing to different islands and construct Temples on the Sacred Sites. Each Temple built will provide you with powerful Umibōzu myth units. If any of your Temples are destroyed, you must rebuild them.)
- (Optional) Find all the Honengyo myth units hiding in the archipelago. (The Honengyo is a naval myth unit. Powerful in combat, it can dive and swim underneath enemy ships, dealing damage and launching them into the air. There may be multiple groups hidden throughout the archipelago.)
Spotlight[]
| “ | Like other cultures, the Japanese use three distinct warships, each with its own purpose. Their arrow ship, the Wasen, can transport units and is effective against close-combat ships. However, it is weak against siege ships. Their siege ship, the Junkozosen, is strong against arrow ships and buildings but is weak against close-combat ships. Their close-combat ship, the Ramming Wasen, moves quickly and is excellent at sinking siege ships, but is vulnerable to arrow ships. |

Strategy[]

The enemy force on the player's starting island can be dealt with using the player's initial army as long as it is properly micromanaged. Lure the enemies away from their towers and then take them down, using Yasuko to heal and shield the player's units and avoid letting any get focused down. Once the troops are dealt with, the towers are easily dealt with.
After that, the player will want to start making a navy. The player will not need that much in the way of ground troops, but the player is going to want plenty of Junkozosens to destroy the enemy statues and deal with enemy arrow ships. For this, the player should select Raijin as their Heroic Age minor god, as his Heavenly Barrage technology allows Junkozosens to fire powerful lightning bolts that chain to other nearby enemy units. Don't bother fighting the Umibōzu near the statues; they will disappear if the statues are destroyed, so focus all attacks on the statues instead. Each statue should have some captured workers near them, which will be able to build the Temples the player needs to complete the scenario. Each temple the player builds will give the player a pair of Umibōzu, which will help greatly in fighting enemy ships and attacking units on land (just make sure they avoid enemy heroes). The player should also send ships to locate the Honengyo scattered across the map, as they will augment the player's fleet, especially early on. There are also some scattered Torii gates in the water that will provide regeneration to nearby units, but these can be destroyed by stray fire and generally should not be relied upon due to their relatively slow healing rate.
Make sure the player also builds a Castle to the right of the starting gold mine; the enemy will land transports to attack the player's base there, so a Castle will fend those off. Towers should additionally be built to further protect the player's Commoners. If the player chooses to advance to the Mythic Age, either minor god is viable, although Watatsumi's Dragon Typhoon god power can help clear out stragglers, while his Shinigami myth unit can scare away enemy units trying to attack any Commoners trying to build Temples on the Sacred Sites and return as a more powerful form should it be killed by enemy forces. The Sakura Gardens technology in Mythic Age may prove invaluable in the long run if the player runs out of trees to harvest for wood.
