Late Economy is the second challenge scenario in Art of War in Age of Empires IV. It tests the player's skill in booming and quickly advancing to the Imperial Age, similar to the The Art of War scenario Booming in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.
Intro[]
Scenario description/loading screen[]
Economic power is just as important as military might. Learn how to build a booming economy and advance to the Imperial Age with a strong economy.
Video instruction[]
When you are in a safe position, you can focus on your economy instead of your military. This is risky, but if successful you can accumulate large amounts of resources with which to crush your enemies.
Start by queuing up Villagers at your Town Center and Traders at your Market, then order your idle Villagers to gather resources. How to divide your gatherers between Food, Wood, Gold, and Stone is something that you must figure out for yourself - but try to focus on long-term goals and reassign your Villagers when necessary.
A single Town Center and Market take a long time to produce the required number of Villagers and Traders, so you will need several more. Make sure that both building types are always producing units. A successful economic boom relies on swiftly producing many Villagers and Traders.
Research economic technologies to make your Villagers as productive as possible. These increase your gathering rates and are crucial to your success.
Now it is up to you. Use the lessons that you have learned here and build up your empire!
Start of scenario[]
To complete this challenge, you must produce a large number of Villagers and Traders and advance to the Imperial Age by constructing a Landmark.
Scenario instructions[]
Starting conditions[]
- Starting Age:
Castle Age - Ending Age:
Imperial Age - Units:
- Resources: 400 food, 560 wood, 100 gold, 400 stone
Objectives[]
- Build a booming economy
- Train additional Villagers (20/80)
- Train additional Traders (4/30)
- Build a Landmark and advance to the Imperial Age
Players[]
- Rus (Rus): Starts in a small town with a score of Villagers, a few Traders, and a Scout. The player must reach the required count of Villagers and Traders, and complete a landmark, to advance to the Imperial Age.
Medals[]
- Gold: 10 minutes 30 seconds
- Silver: 15 minutes 30 seconds
- Bronze: 19 minutes 30 seconds
Strategy[]
Follow the objectives and instructions given by the voice-over. The player should build at least two additional Town Centers, and at least one additional Market when prompted, to constantly produce Villagers and Traders, considering that they take 20 and 30 seconds respectively to train. As in Early Economy, production should never cease until the required number of Villagers and Traders is reached. Since Traders cost wood and gold, the player will have to balance their Villager distribution, especially on food and wood. Do not forget to keep a few Villagers on stone (at least initially) to be able to afford the third Town Center quickly. To save time and keep idling to a minimum, the player should set up rally points from each Town Center on a different resource, and to the neutral Trade Post from both Markets. The player should not need to send too many Villagers on gold after the initial few minutes, since the Traders should provide enough gold once trade income is firmly established.
After reaching 80 Villagers and 30 Traders, and amassing 2,400 food and 1,200 gold for a landmark, remember that the challenge is over only once it is fully built, so leave sufficient time and enough Villagers in the vicinity to complete the construction quickly.
