Automatically spawns diverse armies from across the Mongol Empire and its dominions.
Age of Empires IV description

The Khaganate Palace is a military landmark available to the Mongols in Age of Empires IV in the Castle Age. It regularly spawns a pseudo-randomly chosen group of units.

Available units[]

Most of the units that can be spawned by the Khaganate Palace are not normally available to the Mongols. The train times of each group depend on the unit

Civilization Unit Number Time Resource per minute
Rus Elite Knight 3 66 382f 273g (655 total)
Warrior Monk 2 44 109f 545g (654 total)

Mongols Elite Mangudai
Elite Khan's Hunter

Huihui Pao 1 69 870

Technologies[]

The units that spawn also have various technologies granted for free. The full list is as follows:

Khaganate unit Technologies
Elite Knight Boyar's Fortitude
Knight Poleaxes
Elite Horse Archer Boyar's Fortitude
Mounted Training
Warrior Monk Boyar's Fortitude
Elite Palace Guard Battle Hardened
Nest of Bees Additional Barrels

Notably missing are any of the Warrior Monk-specific technologies and any technologies affecting Mangudai beyond the Elite upgrade.

The order in which units spawn is predetermined when the landmark is built, and the queue resets every time the landmark is packed and unpacked. Therefore, it is theoretically possible to force the landmark to produce the first type of unit in its queue by continuously packing it and unpacking it after that unit is created.

Trivia[]

  • Its real life counterpart is the Khanbaliq.
  • In Season Four, the spawning of Elite Knights was basically useless since the Mongols could train their own Elite Lancers. However, since Season Five, Mongols have the Keshik, which is vastly different than either unit, hence making the Rus Knight useful.

Changelog[]

  • Originally, the Khaganate Palace trained a group of 8 Horsemen, 6 Mangudai, or 4 Lancers every 90 seconds, and they only had whatever technologies had been researched already. With the Season One Update, the Mangudai train time was reduced to 77 seconds. With the Season Four Update, the landmark now spawns diverse armies from across the Mongol Empire and its dominions. Train times are scaled based on the unit, but in general spawn much faster than the previous 90 seconds. With update 14.0.4963, all train times were increased by 10%.
  • With patch 11.1.1201, 1 Mangudai and 1 Horse Archer were replaced with 2 and 1 Khan's Hunter respectively in their spawn groups.
