Kęstutis (c. 1297 – 3 or 15 August 1382) is a cavalry hero unit in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Dawn of the Dukes. He was a ruler of medieval Lithuania. He was the Duke of Trakai and governed the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, 1342–1382, together with his brother Algirdas (until 1377), and then with his nephew Jogaila (until 1381). He ruled over the Lithuanians and Ruthenians. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.
Campaign appearances[]
Algirdas and Kestutis[]
He is the deuteragonist alongside Algirdas in the first four scenarios, and an antagonist opposing the protagonist Jogaila in the final scenario In the Shadow of the Throne.
Trivia[]
- Kestutis appears in all scenarios of the campaign Algirdas and Kestutis.
- The game portrayed Kestutis being outright killed in battle against the Jogaila loyalists, which never happened. In real life, Jogaila staged a fake negotiation to imprison him in Krėvos/Kreva Castle, where he suspiciously died in prison. Jogaila claimed that it was suicide by hanging, while everyone else refused to believe this and said that Kestutis did not kill himself.
