Kastor is a recurring character and protagonist in the campaigns of Age of Mythology and its expansions. He appears as a child in Fall of the Trident, an adult warrior and an adult ruler (wielding the Staff of Atlantis) in The New Atlantis, and as a Legend in Arena of the Gods. He is the main protagonist in The New Atlantis and Arena of the Gods, and a supporting character in Fall of the Trident.
In Fall of the Trident, Kastor is a weak unit who wields a single sword. In The New Atlantis, Kastor is a powerful hero unit armed with two swords whose special ability is a powerful sword attack which sends human units flying, dealing moderate or heavy damage to infantry and myth units, respectively.

The New Atlantis[]
This is the first of the adult versions of Kastor. He is a strong melee hero and is the protagonist of the The New Atlantis campaign.
Special ability[]

Kastor (with staff)[]
This is also an adult version of Kastor, holding the Staff of Atlantis (previously carried by Krios) which denotes his rulership. Kastor (with staff) has the same abilities as the adult version, but this version cannot attack. If he falls in battle, the code says he can be revived; however, he has no death animation and therefore cannot be revived. Also, he has no sound.
Kastor (with staff) appears in the final cut scene of the The New Atlantis campaign.
In Retold, he now has a attack and death animation. He also now has sound. Furthermore, he can now be fully revived, and is therefore no longer a one-time hero, and has an animation for it.

Kastor is also the name of his Legend form in Age of Mythology: Retold, introduced in update 17.43876. He is the protagonist of the Arena of the Gods storyline, playable in every scenario and has a lot of dialogue with other characters such as Gaia and Kronos, as well as Freyr and Loki. He can also be played in the Gauntlet sub-mode of Arena of the Gods, or replaced with other Legends once these are unlocked.

Biography[]
Fall of the Trident[]
Kastor is still a young boy when his father, Arkantos, is sent off by the Theocrat to fight in the Trojan War. As a result, he is left in Atlantis while his father becomes embroiled in the quest to stop the Cyclops Gargarensis from releasing the Titan Kronos from Tartarus. When Arkantos finally returns home, he finds Atlantis overrun by Gargarensis' forces, but manages to rescue Kastor and many other citizens of Atlantis, evacuating them on boats off the island.
Following the final showdown against Gargarensis and the Earthly avatar of the god Poseidon, Arkantos ascends to godhood himself, leaving Kastor and the Atlanteans to build a new life for themselves somewhere beyond the ruins of Atlantis.
The New Atlantis[]
A decade after the events of Fall of the Trident, Kastor is now a General of the remnants of the Atlantean Army. After being informed by a Servant of Kronos in the guise of Krios of a land that is much more hospitable than the Norselands, Kastor leads his people through an abandoned Sky Passage, protected by Norsemen which takes them to a lush and bountiful island north of the Iberian peninsula.
Upon arriving at this new destination, Kastor encounters Overgrown Temples, constructed in honor of the Titans and comes to the conclusion that the Atlanteans have found favor in their eyes, subsequently ordering the temples' repair. When the citizens of the Greek colony discover that the Atlanteans are reconstructing these Temples, they attack them out of fear for worshipping the Titans.
- War with Sikyos
Demanding an explanation for the attack, Kastor pursues them to their Greek city-state of Sikyos and upon arrival does battle with and defeats the army of Sikyos in the South-east of the city, and kills its commander, General Melagius. Before the Atlantean Cohort can take the city, however, Egyptian and Norse allies (possibly allied garrisons) of Sikyos arrive to reinforce it.
Kastor therefore withdraws and initiates simultaneous attacks in both Egypt and Midgard as a means of retaliation and to cause the Egyptian and Norse troops stationed at Sikyos to be forced to withdraw to defend their homelands. Kastor's diversionary tactics are successful, and the reinforcements withdraw to their respective homelands, leaving Sikyos defenseless.
- Unleashing the Titans
Upon the return of Kastor and his forces to Sikyos, Krios reveals to him a Sky Passage which leads him onto Mount Olympus. After setting foot on Mount Olympus, Kastor is overcome with the ambition of climbing to the summit of the mountain. Kastor succeeds in reaching the summit, and upon doing so, he is transported back to the north-west of Sikyos. It is here that the servant of Kronos makes himself known, and reveals to Kastor that he had masterminded his activities as a means of weakening the hold of the gods on the gates of Tartarus enough for the Titans to escape.
Shortly after, the Titan, Prometheus, emerges in the central west of Sikyos and begins to destroy the city. Kastor is then confronted and attacked by a group of Atlantean Olympiasts (Atlanteans who worship the Greek gods) who regard him as having betrayed his people, but is rescued by the newly arrived Ajax and Amanra, who had come to defend Sikyos against the Atlanteans. Afterwards, Kastor, Ajax and Amanra journey to Egypt to fight Cerberus first, as they regard Egypt as the most important land to defend (Most likely due to its cities, and population compared to the Norselands)
Later, in Midgard, they meet the Frost Giant King Folstag, who has now become a king, after the events of Fall of the Trident, where they join together to defeat Ymir, a Norse Titan with the help of the Nidhogg, now tamed.
They eventually return to Sikyos, using the influence of Gaia to attack Prometheus. Now weakened (most likely due to the natural energies from Gaia) Prometheus is defeated by the Atlanteans, Ajax and Amanra.
- Back to Atlantis
Kastor finally returns to New Atlantis, only to find the Servant and rogue Automata who animate and begin destroying the island. The Servant flees to yet another Sky Passage, and the heroes, and some Atlantean soldiers follow suit.
The heroes arrive on the southern ruins of Old Atlantis, on the ruins of what was once the temple complex of Atlantis, now greatly changed due to the earthquakes, and the sinking of Atlantis.
With the power of the Olympian gods broken, Kronos attempts to break himself out of Tartarus, and succeeds, but with the help of the Titan Gaia, who, unlike the other Titans, is said to be a beneficial force, Kastor fights Kronos, and succeeds in banishing him again.
With Kronos back in Tartarus, his Servant tries to escape, only to be killed by Kastor, Upon the victory, Arkantos appears to Kastor and makes him as the new ruler of Atlantis, handing him the Staff of Atlantis, whilst an Atlantean colony is built upon the complex's ruins.
Arena of the Gods[]
- Legends Awaken
In Arena of the Gods, Kastor finds himself in a dream where he is fighting various Norse warriors in Highland. In his dream, he discovers new powers granted by Gaia herself, such as the ability to make use of lashing roots, which deal area damage. He later gains the ability to unfreeze Atlantean warriors who have been frozen in time by Kronos' grasp, as well as further blessings from the gods.
Upon reaching the Acropolis, Kastor runs into Kronos once again, who is once more scheming to break out of Tartarus. There, he also reveals his plans to free Loki from imprisonment and instigate Ragnarok, further noting that not even "peace-loving" Freyr could stop him. Gaia tasks Kastor with freeing the Champion of Freyr, whom Kronos has imprisoned. Afterwards, Kronos escapes from Tartarus and attacks Kastor's forces, but they ultimately defeat him once again, with the help of Gaia and the newly freed Champion of Freyr.
- Stopping Ragnarok
In Anatolia, the Champion of Freyr thanks Kastor for rescuing her and heads off to stop those scheming to free Loki. Freyr, displeased with Kastor's penchant for violence and choosing to interfere with his Champion, assumes total control over the weather, invoking Forest Fires during the summer and using the power of frost to freeze those who dare to interfere with his influence in the winter. Gaia criticizes Freyr for not seeing that they are on the same side, and Kastor attacks forces loyal to Freyr.
In the Tundra, Kastor and the Champion of Freyr join forces to destroy the Citadel of Loki, which is guarded by hordes of Draugar and several Asgardian Hill Forts. In the final scenario of Arena of the Gods, set in Midgard, Loki finally breaks out of his imprisonment and expresses his surprise at the Atlanteans trying to interfere with Ragnarok. Kastor, again allied with Freyr's followers, proceeds to destroy the bases of the Norse giants on Midgard. While Loki respects Kastor's tenacity and combat prowess, he still declares that Ragnarok is inevitable, to which Kastor vows that he will hold it off for as long as he lives.
Trivia[]
- The name "Kastor" appears in a different context in Greek mythology. Kastor (or Castor) with his twin half-brother Pollux form a hero pair called the Dioscuri.
- Before Retold, the teenage version of Kastor was not counted as a hero or military unit, despite traits like regeneration, Hero Glow, Hero Soul, and being revivable. He does not benefit from Age advance bonuses or Olympian Parentage, cannot pick up Relics, is not listed in the hero search, does not have any formation or stance commands, and cannot be garrisoned in buildings. He also shared a voice with generic heroes such as Theseus.
