Kagemasa is the primary antagonist of the Yasuko's Tale campaign in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear. He is a powerful melee hero.

Special abilities

• Divine Immunity (Passive): Cannot be targeted by god powers which target a single specific unit.
• Sacred Hands (Passive): Can pick up and deposit Relics in Temples.
• Iaijutsu (Charged): Periodically deals immense damage. (​36  hack damage with 7× vs. myth units. Recharge time: 20 seconds)

Story

Kagemasa, referred to as Lord Kagemasa by his cronies, is the ruler of Kumamoto on the island of Kyūshū. He is a worshiper of Susanoo, and has made an insidious pact with the storm god. With the Ame-no-Nuboko's powers, he seeks to imprison Amaterasu in a great cave and cast the world into eternal night. In return, the trickster Susanoo promised him divine powers.

He is aided in his quest by the spider queen Magumo and the Oni king Shuten Doji. The king of the Tengus, Sōjōbō, also serves him for a while due to being charmed by Magumo's powers.

He manages to capture and defeat Yasuko, the one chosen by Amaterasu to prevent his plans from coming into fruition. He uses the heavenly spear to shut the massive doors of a cave where Amaterasu is in, plunging the world into darkness. Susanoo, the trickster god, gives him his promised reward of divine might, by turning him into the monster Yamata no Orochi. Enraged at this deception, Kagemasa pledges vengeance against the gods by destroying all of Japan, their creation.

Yasuko recovers from her malaise, and is rejoined by her allies to recover the heavenly spear from Shuten Doji, then uses its power to slay the monstrous form of Kagemasa and return the world to order.
