| This article is about the hero of Jeanne d'Arc in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend. For other uses, see Joan of Arc (disambiguation). |
Jeanne d'Arc is a hero unit of her namesake civilization available in various forms. At various levels, Jeanne d'Arc gains abilities in addition to becoming stronger in general.
Levels[]
- Level 1: Jeanne is essentially an improved Villager and has the basic abilities of gathering, building, and repairing. From these humble beginnings, Jeanne d'Arc will pursue the Journey of a Hero by gaining experience, leveling up, and gaining access to improved combat power and impactful abilities.
- Level 2: Jeanne can choose to become an archer or a woman-at-arms, gaining an ability based on this choice.
- Level 3: Jeanne mounts a horse for combat while retaining her weapon of choice. She also chooses her companion units for the rest of the game, either Jeanne's Riders or Jeanne's Champions. The selected companion will be summoned via the Rally Call ability and becomes available to train at Keeps.
- Level 4: Jeanne has completed the Journey of the Hero. Now, Jeanne wields a heavy cannon based on her weapon choice. Her Rally Call ability produces additional units, Jeanne d'Arc's companions are upgraded to Elite, and she gains a powerful ultimate ability.
Choices[]
Hinted above is that the player has to make a different type of choice at every level. This is in addition to the landmarks the player must choose to Age up.
Units[]
The unit itself is named "Jeanne d' Arc - x" where x is the result of choice when going to level 2. The tables only show x as the name.

Experience[]
| โ | Jeanne generates experience for completing tasks such as gathering resources, constructing buildings, capturing Sacred Sites, and participating in combat. Jeanne also gains a small trickle of experience over time. After earning sufficient experience Jeanne can level up, becoming more powerful and gaining access to unique abilities. | โ |
| —Age of Empires IV description | ||
- Jeanne passively gains 1 experience every 2 seconds.
- As a Peasant: Jeanne gets 2 experience every 2 seconds when gathering resources, and 4 experience every 2 seconds when building. In the Nomad mode, Jeanne gains only half the experience while building before the starting Capital Town Center is built.
- Jeanne gets 25 experience when killing a Boar. No experience is awarded for killing Deer, Wolves, or Sheep.
- When an enemy unit dies or building is destroyed in her line of sight (not necessarily by her), then she gets 10% of the unit/building cost as experience.
- Starting in the Castle Age, Jeanne herself is able to capture Sacred Sites, giving her 50 experience in the process.
- Jeanne's needs 500 experience to reach level 2 and 3, and 1,500 to reach level 4.
- Once a level is reached, any experience earned afterwards won't be counted towards next level.
Death[]
| โ | If Jeanne is defeated, she can be brought back at a Town Center. | โ |
| —Age of Empires IV description | ||
Return of the Saint: When Jeanne dies, she can be resurrected at the Town Center instantly by paying an amount of gold depending on her level. The higher the level, the costlier it is to lose her. Getting killed does not reset her ability charge or ability cooldown progress. The cooldown between resurrecting her is 2 minutes.

Note: Bonuses specific to one variant of Jeanne cannot be carried over to a different one through leveling up, nor can bonuses to specific weapon types. For example, researching Elite Army Tactics as a Woman-at-Arms will not carry over the +20% attack and +4 armor to Level 3, since Jeanne is no longer a melee infantry. Additionally, researching Bloomery as a Knight will have no effect as a Cannoneer. Peasant Jeanne is not affected by Wheelbarrow, so there is no speed increase to carry over.

Trivia[]
- Jeanne reaches the highest Line of Sight in level 2 at 8 tiles, whereas she has 6.22 tiles of Line of Sight at all other levels. This makes level 3 a downgrade for Line of Sight.
- The heavy siege cavalry form of Jeanne is described as "elite siege cavalry leader", whereas the siege cavalry form is described as "elite heavy siege cavalry leader".
- The 'Riders Ready' ability icon has an arrow on the banner despite summoning melee cavalry. This may be because before release, based on game files, Jeanne originally could summon Arbaletrier companions, and the icon was never changed along with the unit.
