—Dialogue in A Perfect Martyr |
Jean Bureau is an hero unit available in the Scenario Editor, based on the eponymous artillery commander and siege engineer during the later years of the Hundred Years' War. He is credited with the French victory in the decisive Battle of Castillon. He has the appearance of a Bombard Cannon.
He appears in the final scenario of the Joan of Arc campaign, A Perfect Martyr. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health (since The Conquerors).
Campaign appearances[]
Joan of Arc[]
- A Perfect Martyr: Jean Bureau leads the French artillery close to the Burgundian citadel, providing weaponry to break the Burgundian defenses.
Vlad Dracula[]
- The Dragon Spreads His Wings: In the HD Edition on higher difficulties, the Danesti blockade on the path leading to Voivod Istvan's city contains artillery that's a renamed Jean Bureau.
Trivia[]
- Bureau worked as a lawyer in English-occupied Paris before he offered his services to King Charles VII of France in 1434, two years before the French recovered the city.
- He has overall inferior stats compared to regular Bombard Cannons. This is partially due to the standard Bombard Cannon receiving an extra 30 hit points and 20 anti-siege damage in The Conquerors that was never given to Bureau, and he still has significantly worse anti-building damage and armor (though he notably takes no anti-siege damage due to lacking the armor class) even outside of these changes. For this reason, some players choose to delete him once siege artillery becomes an option.
