Consulate japanese

Japanese Isolation is a Consulate ally in Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties available only to the namesake civilization, the Japanese. Like all Consulate allies, it requires 100 export to ally with them (25 export if the Diplomatic Intrigue Home City Card was sent). Doing so grants the player +7% damage to all land units.

Description[]

Japanese Isolation is a military-oriented Consulate ally, as many of its technologies are focused on military training. Instead of armies, like all other Consulate allies, the Japanese Isolation enables the player to normally train a set of special Japanese units with export. The Ninjutsu-Zukai and Hatamoto Samurai are mercenaries, and the Konsha Yamabushi and the Shinobi-No-Mono are Consulate units counterparts of units that can be trained by Shogun Tokugawa. All of these Consulate units have +10% hit points and attack compared to their regular counterparts.

Technologies[]

Age Improvement Cost Research time Effect
Military Rickshaw 100 export 30 seconds Delivers 1 Military Rickshaw
Bushido Principles 300 export Sets unit block train limit to 10
Clan Offerings 400 export Each Castle spawns 1 Samurai after 45 seconds
Meiji Restoration 4,000 export 90 seconds Advances the player to the Imperial Age without having to build a wonder
  • The Good Faith Agreements card reduces technology cost by 40% and research time by 50%.

Units[]

Age Unit Cost Pop.
Konsha Yamabushi 65 export 1
Shinobi-No-Mono 80 export
Ninjutsu-Zukai 145 export 4
Hatamoto Samurai 290 export

Strategy[]

Japanese Isolation should be used when the player is about to attack an enemy, since its passive bonus is an aggressive one.

With Bushido Principles, the player can train military units in blocks of 10, making much faster to produce a great number of military units, and this effect also applies to Daimyos and the Shogun Tokugawa, enabling the player to train larger armies at the front line. The Military Rickshaw can be used to build a Barracks or a Stable. Clan Offerings is better used when the player has reached the Castle build limit, and if the player has a deck with Home City Cards like Extensive Fortifications and with improvements for Samurais, this technology is a great addition.

The Meiji Restoration technology advances the player to the Imperial Age, but it is much better to Age-up normally by building a Wonder, as Meiji Restoration does not give any bonus to the player.

The Hatamoto Samurai and Ninjutsu-Zukai are a great addition when the player is focusing on mercenaries, and the Konsha Yamabushi and Shinobi-no-Mono are two units good against cavalry. All Japanese Isolation units are agreat composition in the army the player has.
