—In-game description |
The Immortal is a Classical Age infantry/archer unit in Chronicles: Battle for Greece available at the Fort to the Achaemenids. It can be upgraded to the Elite Immortal in the Imperial Age.
Tactics[]
The Immortal's most notable feature is its ability to toggle between melee and ranged mode, offering flexibility in gameplay. Internally, these modes are represented by two distinct units: the Immortal, an infantry unit, and the Ranged Immortal, an archer. Although both modes have the archer and infantry armor classes simultaneously, they are affected by different team bonuses, meaning that their statistics (such as bonus damage and Line of Sight) can change as they toggle from one mode to another, depending on the civilizations in their team.

History[]
"Immortal" is the translation of the Greek name given to a unit of Achaemenid Persian elite heavy infantry by the Greek historian Herodotus, which was said to always remain at 10,000 strong, as they immediately replaced any troops lost or discharged.
Trivia[]
- The Immortal's dual melee and ranged modes is very similar to the Persian Immortal from Age of Empires Online.
- This unit is very similar to the Immortal in Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon, as they not only share the same name, but also share the function of switching between melee and ranged modes of attack, although the latter does this automatically based on what type of unit they fight.
