This article is about the unit in Age of Empires II. For other uses, see Imam. |
The Imam is a hero that first appeared in the The Enemy of my Enemy scenario of the El Cid campaign in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors, and subsequently in several more campaigns.
He is based on a generic religious leader in Islam and of the Muslim community who reside in Mosques.
Imams function similar to Monks but with better stats. In The Conquerors, Imams used the same sprite as Monks, but with The Forgotten they got their own unique sprite. They are also available in the Scenario Editor.
As a hero, the Imam cannot be converted and can regenerate health. Like other Monks, Imams are affected by all upgrades that affect Monks as well as any other bonuses that affect them.
Prior to the Definitive Edition, Imams could pick up Relics. However, the moment they did, they turned into a regular Monk. In the Definitive Edition, they can no longer pick up Relics.
