The Humbaraci is a heavy infantry unit similar to the Grenadier, working as a support and siege unit rather than fighting against other units.
Humbaracis have an increased coin cost and reduced food cost, more hit points, slightly higher speed, melee and ranged attack, range, and lesser Area of Effect, but deal more damage against buildings, resists ranged and siege attacks, and unlike Grenadiers, they are especially effective countering artillery units in a similar way to Culverins, but costing less population and resources.
While they throw grenades, Ottoman players who send the "Grenade Launchers" card will slightly increase the Humbaraci's Line of Sight and Rate of Fire, as they no longer ignite and throw grenades, rather firing them from their rifles much like Giant Grenadiers.
However, Humbaracis are particularly weak against units such as villagers, cavalry, and shock infantry. While they can handle infantry due to their ranged attack (that causes siege damage), Humbaracis can be taken down easily if they are reached by melee heavy infantry such as Rodeleros or Halberdiers. Protecting Humbaracis with ranged infantry like Janissaries or Abus Gunners allows the player to deal with most units, particularly cavalry and infantry.

History[]
“
The Humbaraci corps was one of the divisions of the Ottoman Army and is commonly considered to be the earliest specialized Grenadier corps in the early modern period. The Ottomans already started to use grenades in the late 15th and early 16th century, preceding this development in European armies. The name "humbaraci" is based on a Persian loanword that describes a metal bowl for storing valuables. This was likened to the metallic gunpowder-filled grenade and therefore called "humbara". The Ottoman army intended to emulate the power of the cumbersome and slow-moving artillery with more mobile foot soldiers by equipping and training small detachments of infantry banners with grenades. The Humbaraci corps also had extensive knowledge of casting and operating artillery pieces such as mortars. This expertise made them valuable in both infantry and artillery troops.
