| —Age of Empires IV description | ||
The House is a building in Age of Empires IV. It increases unit population by 10. It is available to all civilizations except for the Japanese and Mongols. The Japanese equivalent is the Farmhouse, whereas the Mongols do not need to construct Houses to increase their population.
Tactics[]
The sole purpose of the House for most civilizations is to provide population.
Malians[]
For the Malians, each House provides only 5 population, but also costs -50% resources and time to construct. This essentially means that they need to construct double the number of Houses, but at the same total resource cost and villager time. This is done to help the Malian player take advantage of their Pit Mines, which produce more gold when more Houses (and Mining Camps) are nearby.
Byzantines[]
Since the player is supposed to construct Houses anyway and the Byzantines get 8 stone per House constructed, this helps the player with their stone requirements in the mid-game. Starting in the Feudal Age, the Byzantines can get their unique technology which grants Houses a massive +7 tiles Line of Sight, increasing it from 3 to 10, and are constructed in only 2.5 seconds. This grants them the role of lookouts to enemy from afar. The quick creation time can also be used to convert 50 wood to 8 stone quickly while also increasing population.

It has no hit point stat and cannot be attacked or destroyed in any way.
