The Hospital is a building in Age of Empires III that trains infantry and heals friendly units. It can only be built by the Maltese, and combines the functions of a Barracks and a Field Hospital.
Overview[]
The Hospital trains Maltese infantry, and also heals idle units by 2.0 hit points per second in a radius of 8. Together with the Maltese's pre-existing maximum hit point and hit point regeneration bonuses, Maltese units survive longer. It costs only half of what either a Barracks or a Field Hospital would cost normally, and has the hit points of a Field Hospital, 1,000 less than a Barracks would have.
While cheap and multi-functional, they also suffer from several disadvantages. They are more fragile than a Barracks and heal less than true Field Hospitals, which are eight times as effective. Fortunately, Maltese bonuses to defend through units and fortifications will greatly help in protecting them and making up for their reduced effectiveness.
